Homecoming is just around the corner - September 25-29Go, Tigers!
The K-3 general music classes are learning the school song so that we can cheer on our Tigers.  Here are the lyrics to our school song.  They are set to the tune "On, Wisconsin"

Mobridge-Pollock School Song

Onward, Mobridge!  Onward, Pollock!
Yes, you bet we're here.
And we've got the goods with us, nothing do we fear.
Rah!  Rah!  Rah!

Onward, Mobridge!  Onward, Pollock!
We are here to win.
So fight, Tigers, fight and we will win this game!

M-O-B-R-I-D-G-E   P-O-L-L-O-C-K!

Kindergarten students are learning how to make and be good friends.  We are learning to use our singing voices and to match pitch.  We have been focusing on Beat, learning to hear the beat and to move to the beat.

First graders are learning the difference between Beat and Rhythm.  We are singing and moving to the beat and to the rhythm.  We learned that music can have different Tempos (speeds), and that it can have different Dynamics (volumes of sound).  We also like silly songs and songs that tell stories.  Many of our songs focus on rhyming words.

Second graders are learning to use their singing voices and match pitch.  We use Solfage, Rhythm Syllables and Pitch Names to read music!  So far we have focused on Middle C through F.  Not only can we sight sing, we can also play melodies on Boomwhackers.  We also reviewed Tempos and Dynamics.

In Third Grade, we are learning to read more difficult music.  After reviewing Tempos and Dynamics, we studied Meters in 4 and in 3.  We use Solfage and Call & Response songs to learn to sing in tune.  We read rhythms with quarter notes and rests, eighth notes, half notes and rests. We have focused on the pitches of Middle C through G so far.  We are learning to analyze, read and play music on Boomwhackers.
